Local Teen Continues Mission to Help Those in Need

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (1/5/2015) -In 2014, KenCo News did an interview with a local youth, Morgan Davis of Muhlenberg County, regarding the Mission 13 ministry she began, in which she gave her all to help people who were hungry and homeless.

In this Mission, Morgan vowed to give up her birthday in exchange for helping others. This year, Morgan has vowed to do the same and has issued the following letter to citizens throughout the area…

“As the new year begins, so does the start for Mission 13. For those of you that may not know about Mission 13, let me tell you about it.

My name is Morgan Davis. I am in 8th grade. When I was 12 the Lord really dealt with my heart to do something memorable and something special for my 13th birthday. Not knowing God’s plan for my life, he let me experience something great and wonderful. He allowed me to go with my church youth Temple Baptist to serve Thanksgiving dinner that year at the Nashville Rescue Mission (www.nashvillerescuemission.org), a Christ-centered life recovery and homeless shelter. The rescue mission is all donated and all volunteer. No government assistance. They serve over 2000 meals per week, 365 days per year. I knew that this was the plan for my special day, so I planned to donate my birthday and every birthday to helping others in need. So, I created Mission 13. I will keep the name to remember where God started his big plans for my life in helping others. We received so many donations through my birthday plan and so much support from so many people and churches in the community. I was overwhelmed with the amount of clothing, food and so much more.

My mission work is 100 percent donated to Nashville Rescue Mission. This is all non-profit, donated work. I ask nothing for myself.

This year we invite each and every one to help in any way you can. Get your friends, family, churches, businesses, youth groups or anyone else involved in making a difference for someone in need or someone hurting. We take all clothing, new and used, food, shoes, blankets, baby items, OTC meds, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, toiletries, travel items and snacks to make blessing bags.

You can join us on Feb. 20 at 5:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church to fellowship and donate. Volunteers are welcome. We will go to the Rescue mission on Feb. 21 to make our donation. Anyone is welcome to join us and experience this amazing place.

Join me in feeding the hungry, restoring hope and making a difference. Remember, the more we get, the more we can give. For any questions you may contact Mission 13 through Facebook or contact us by call or text at 270-977-1301. Thanks and God bless each and everyone that has made this vision come true.”

KenCo News is very honored to be able to spread the word for this amazing young lady. We strongly urge everyone to take part in this mission. It is a rare occasion in these times when we see a child give up his or her birthday, plus put forth unlimited time and efforts, in helping others in need. Thank you Morgan for your efforts, your dedication and your help for those in need. You are truly a blessing to this world.
