Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce Kicks off 2015 



MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (01/08/15) – A full room of local citizens and business personnel filled the luncheon area of First United Methodist Church in Greenville on Thursday, Jan. 8, to welcome in the 2015 year.

The event began with a prayer by Gary Jones over the luncheon and for blessings with Muhlenberg County over the next year, and thanks for the prior year.

Next up, Tony Jones, a representative for Kentucky Utilities and co-sponsor of the luncheon, took a moment to wish everyone a happy new year and spoke a few words on remaining safe during cold weather for local citizens and local pets.

Among the many other speakers at the event was a local youth named Logan McDonald. Logan is a proud member of Muhlenberg Junior Leadership program. He discussed the several classes and projects the program is undertaking.

Next, Chris Dennis, President of the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce for the 2014 year, officially passed on his position to the 2015 President, Susan Wells. During Mr. Dennis’ speech, he discussed his happiness over the 2014 year and thanked local citizens and volunteers for stepping forward and helping with promotion of local Muhlenberg businesses. Chris thanked Dorothy Walker for her strong efforts and support, and thanked the Chamber in general for dedication to the Muhlenberg County area.

Judge Brian Crick came forward next and performed the swearing in for the 2015 chamber board members.

Throughout the Chamber meeting several awards were given out. Susan Wells was awarded for being the 014 Chamber Member of the Year. Gary Jones, Karen Smith, Daniel Payne and Chris Dennis were awarded for their service to the Chamber during the 2014 year.

Newly appointed Chamber President Susan Wells took a moment to express her excitement for the 2015 year and spoke on the importance of local citizens to shop in local businesses. She also expressed appreciation for the Chamber Ambassador Group for their efforts to help local businesses draw in new and repeat customers.

New Business certificates were issued to Page Dukes of Country Town Fabric and Vicki Williams of Reading Solutions. Towards the end of the meeting, Mayors Barry Shaver, Jan Yonts and Mayor Bobby Creager gave updates on their communities and plans for the 2015 year.
