Madisonville Woman Found with Drugs After Resisting Arrest 

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky.  (01/015/2015) – The Madisonville Police Department has reported an arrest stemming from an active warrant, that inevitably led to drug and Resisting Arrest charges.

Madisonville Police officials stat that around 10:59 PM on Wednesday, Jan. 15, Officers Justin Jones and Justin Crump conducted a traffic stop on 39-year-old Kami Kembel in reference to an active arrest warrant. Upon contact, Kembel attempted to give officers a false name. Officer Jones, however, recognized Kembel from past encounters.

As officers began to place Kembel in custody, she resisted arrest by violently jerking away. Officers escorted Kembel to the ground with the use of a strait arm bar control technique. As officers struggled with Kembel, she continued to resist. Officers utilized a burst of pepper spray.

After Kembel was arrested, it was discovered that her lip had been injured. She was transferred to Regional Medical Center for treatment, and then to the Hopkins County Jail. Once at the Detention Center, it was found that Kembel was in possession of a baggie of synthetic drugs.

Kembel was charged with the original warrant for Contempt of Court. She was also charged with Public Intoxication, Giving officers a Fals Name, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree, Possession of Synthetic Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault 3rd Degree and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.
