 Vehicle Goes Airborne on Parkway

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky.  (01/17/2015) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has reported a single vehicle accident that took place on Edward Breathitt Parkway near the 44 mile marker. On Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at around 2:42 PM, Sheriff’s Office officials and various other first responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident.

According to Sheriff’s Office officials, 46-year-old Dennis Hoagland of Cumberland City, TN was traveling southbound in a 2014 Chrysler Sebring. Hoagland exited the southbound side of the parkway and struck a culvert. As a result, Hoagland’s vehicle went airborne. Witnesses stated that the vehicle rolled several times when it landed.

Hoagland was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville via Helicopter. Sheriff’s officials state that Hoagland’s condition is uncertain at this time.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Madisonville Police Department, Madisonville Fire Department, Med Center Ambulance Service and PHI Medical.

The collision is still under investigation.
