Man Shot during Attempted Robbery at Ferrell’s Snappy Service

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky.  (01/18/2015) – The Madisonville Police Department has released the following information regarding a robbery incident that resulted in the perpetrator being shot.

On Jan. 18, 2015, the Hopkins County Dispatch received an emergency call via 911 from a distraught employee of Ferrell’s Snappy Service in reference to a robbery in progress. The report was received at 2:48 AM.

Officers quickly responded and arrived on scene as the suspect, 43-year-old Corey Puckett of Atlanta, Georgia, was fleeing from the front door of the business. The suspect was confronted by officers outside of the business. Upon contact, the encounter escalated and resulted with the responding officer discharging his gun, striking the individual.

Officers rendered first aid until Medical personnel arrived on scene. The suspect was transported to Baptist Health for treatment of his injury.

Puckett was found to be armed and in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Puckett was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Menacing and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
