Teen Injured in Accident on Cleaton Road

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (01/18/15) – At around 7:00 AM on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, Trooper Jerry Knight with the Kentucky State Police responded to a report of an accident involving one vehicle on Cleaton Road.

Once on the scene, Trooper Knight found that 16-year-old Tayrn Mercer of the Cleaton area was driving eastbound on Cleaton Road in a 1989 Bronco II. Trooper Knight found that Mercer had traveled over a patch of black ice on the road, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The Bronco exited the left side of the highway and struck an embankment, forcing it to overturn onto the driver’s side, partially on the roadway.

Mercer was transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment.

Mercer was wearing her seatbelt and no passengers were involved in the incident.

The Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
