FLOOD WARNING – Flooding Possible for Green River Area

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (02/22/15) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood warning for the Green River area. Officials state that the Green River near the Paradise area in Muhlenberg County will be on the rise.

Much of the Green River Basin was covered with several inches of snow. That accompanied with the 2-3 inches of rain over the past two days will cause the Green River at Paradise to rise to the flood stage late Tuesday afternoon. National Weather Service officials state that the river will recede below flood stage on Wednesday, barring any major changes in forecasted weather.

NWS would like local citizens to remember to never drive vehicles of any kind through flooded areas. Also, never allow children to play in or near flood waters.

For updates on weather conditions and water levels, stay up to date with KenCo News weather forecaster David Wayne Smith daily.
