Are You Tough Enough for the Penguin Plunge?

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (02/23/15) – Quite  often we hear local citizens talking about how tough they are, simply because they were raised in the country. Are you really that tough? If so, prove it by taking the Penguin Plunge!

Each year, the Muhlenberg County 4-H Food for Kids Backpack Program holds the Penguin Plunge at the Central City Convention Center outdoor pool. The purpose of the Penguin Plunge is to raise funds for supporting the Kids Backpack Program, making sure that local children do not go without food. Foods to supply a weekly backpack for one student for the school year costs $100. Anyone raising, or donating, $100 can take part in the Plunge, and prove how tough you really are!

On the other hand, you can step up and make donations without taking the plunge as well. Drop donations off at the Muhlenberg County Cooperative Extension Office. Make checks payable to the Muhlenberg 4-H Backpack Program.

A public event, the Penguin Plunge will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 10:00 AM at the Central City Convention Center outdoor pool.

Each year, KenCo News covers this event. As ones who have witnessed our local citizens jumping into ice-cold water, we strongly urge you to attend! It is a very fun and interesting event, and free to the public.

We hope to see you there!
