Local South Central Aquatics Youth Compete in State A Championship Preliminary Qualifier

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (02/23/15) – The South Central Aquatics Riptide sent several of its top swimmers to the RACE to State meet at the Warren County Academic and Aquatics Center in Bowling Green.

The competition, a preliminary qualifier for the State “A” Championship in March, was attended by some of the state’s top talent.

“Our goal at every meet is for our swimmer’s to improve their own personal best times. We are absolutely blown away by the performance of our swimmers at this weekend’s meet,” says President and Head Coach Morgan Newman Armstrong.

Not only did all swimmers from the Riptide establish at least one personal best record, numerous club records were shattered and 2 team members achieved qualifying times for the state championship meet. Tristen Hall, 9, qualified for the state championship in the 9-10 50 yard butterfly, turning in a time of 38.28 seconds, and Tanner Robards, 12, qualified for the state championship in the 11-12 50 yard backstroke recording a time of 34.28 seconds. Their efforts awarded them fifth and third place finishes respectively in those events.

“Tanner and Tristen are all-star swimmers. They work hard, practice hard, and it pays off. We have no doubt they will each qualify for 1-2 more state events prior to the deadline March 9,” says Armstrong. “We have a few other swimmers who are very close to achieving a state qualifying time as well. We have a few weeks of practice and one meet for them to get there.”
