BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT – Merle Norman Cosmetics

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (03/24/15) – This week in our weekly Business Spotlight, KenCo News and the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce is proud to focus on a local business that has been a part of our community for 18 years under the current ownership.

This week we are featuring Merle Norman Cosmetics in downtown Greenville. Merle Norman Cosmetics has actually been present in the area since 1970. In 1997 it was bought by the current owner, Jean Hardison.

“I bought this store a few years after my first husband had passed,” said Mrs. Hardison. “It was something that I had always wanted to do, and it filled a void in my life.”

Located at 109 South Main in Greenville, Merle Norman Cosmetics sells the cosmetics along with a large selection of gifts ranging from Vera Bradley to Corinthian Bell wind chimes.

Over the years, Merle Norman Cosmetics has become a very popular and well-established business in our community. This is partly due to the high quality products they sell, but also stems from the excellent customer service and Mrs. Hardison’s love for Muhlenberg residents.

“I wanted to buy this store because I knew I would love doing the work and I wanted to be in Muhlenberg County because this is my home,” said Mrs. Hardison. “Owning a store in Muhlenberg County has its challenges, but I think that's true no matter where you have a business. However, it is nice to have a first name basis with a lot of your customers because they are not only customers, but friends. That is the difference between a hometown store and a large chain store.”

If you would like to check out Merle Norman Cosmetics, the store hours are from 10:00 AM until 5:30 PM on Monday through Friday and from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Saturdays.

You may contact Merle Norman Cosmetics at 270-338-5121.

The Greater Muhlenberg County Chamber of Commerce is honored to have Merle Norman Cosmetics as one of our valuable local businesses.
