Wooded Area Catches Fire in Depoy Area 

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (03/29/15) – The Graham Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a reported fire on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at approximately 5:30 PM.

KenCo News was on the scene of the fire at a residence bordering a wooded area that had caught fire, located next to 1221 Bards Hill Road in Depoy.

The homeowner, Phillip Garris, told reporters that he had been asleep when his wife woke him stating that there was heavy smoke from the woods next to the home. Garris immediately called firefighters.

Graham Firefighter Keenan Durall, told reporters that he could not specify the exact amount of land the fire covered, but it was estimated between 2 ½ - 5 acres.

During the battle with the blaze near the residence, the firefighters were separated from the flame by dense brush, tall and consisting of trees, vines and briars. Firefighters utilized an ATV to bust through the brush and extinguish several hotspots.

At 6:56 PM Durall informed Central Dispatch that the fire was extinguished. Firefighters stayed on the scene until around 8:15 PM.

The Graham Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Greenville Fire Department and the Beechmont Fire Department.
