 Man Thrown from Bed when Home is Struck by Vehicle

KENTUCKY  (04/04/2015) – On Saturday, April 4, 2015, at around 3:39 AM, the Madisonville Police Department was dispatched to the scene of an accident at 350 Wells Avenue.

Once an investigation was performed on the scene of the accident, officers found that 27-year-old Tabetha Mcelroy, a resident of the Providence area, was traveling southbound on Wells Avenue in her vehicle. Mcelroy exited the east side of the roadway and struck a tree stump. The vehicle then impacted the residence at 350 Wells Avenue.

At the time of the accident, the resident of the home, Michael Renfrow, was lying in his bed. When the vehicle struck the residence, Renfrow was thrown across the room, receiving potential injuries.

Both Renfrow and Mcelroy were seen by Med Center Ambulance crew on the scene. Renfrow was then transported by private vehicle to Baptist Health ER.

After the investigation,Mcelroy was cited for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol (1st Offense).

The City of Madisonville Electric Department and Madisonville Towing assisted officers on the scene.

Chad Muirhead was the investigating officer in the case.
