Pedestrian Struck by Greenville Driver While Focusing on Cell Phone 

KENTUCKY  (04/09/2015) – The Madisonville Police Department has reported an incident in which a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the Madisonville city limits on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at approximately 11:01 PM.

According to Police Department officials, Joseph Kurtz of Stagecoach Road in Madisonville was crossing the southbound lane of Island Ford Road. Kurtz then attempted to cross the northbound lane. Due to Kurtz being distracted by his cell phone, he entered the path of Roger Carver, a Greenville resident driving a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Mr. Carver had just started in traffic crossing onto Island Ford Road from Nebo Road. Carver stated that he did not see Kurt until he was struck by Carver’s vehicle. Kurtz stated that he attempted to stop from crossing, but due to his distraction he stated that he did not see Mr. Carver’s vehicle.

Kurtz was treated at the scene by Med Center Ambulance and transported to Baptist Health by his mother for treatment of injuries.
