BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT – Rose Hill Monuments in Central City

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (04/15/15) – This week, KenCo News and the Greater Muhlenberg County Chamber of Commerce are honored to feature Rose Hill Monuments in Central City as our weekly business spotlight.

Rose Hill Monuments has been a major business and resource for Muhlenberg Country residents for over 50 years.

Located at 525 East Everly Brothers Blvd, next to Rose Hill Cemetery, Rose Hill Monuments specializes in granite foot stones, headstones and family memorials for cemeteries. They also do pet markers, granite yard signs, granite business signs, adding lettering/dates to existing stones and new foundations for stones that are leaning in the cemetery. The owners of this business also owns Rose Hill Cemetery, Muhlenberg County Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Wooldridge & Sons Monuments, which is located in Lewisburg (Logan County).

Along with the monument company and cemeteries, Rose Hill employees have been digging graves since 1983. Currently, they furnish grave digging services for 4 different funeral homes along with many from out of town, if they have a service to be conducted in Muhlenberg or surrounding counties.

Rose Hill is a family-owned and operated business. It is owned by Dwight and Linda Wooldridge, and they work with their 3 sons and 4 other full time employees. Dwight started digging graves for Tucker Funeral Home in 1983. In the early 1990's, Jimmy Adcock help Dwight and Linda set up a small monument company at their home in Lewisburg, where they began to sell monuments. In 1994 they bought Rose Hill Cemetery from Jimmy & Sue Adcock, and then bought Rose Hill Monuments from Sue in 1997.

When asked how Rose Hill has impacted the Muhlenberg County area, employee Brandon Wooldridge said, “Rose Hill has had a very positive impact on Muhlenberg County. We are able to help families in their darkest hours by selecting a tribute for their loved ones that will stand the test of times. Most families want to have a nice memorial to remember a loved one, but they also don't want to "Break the Bank" so that's where we step in. We are able to do customized monuments for less than most other companies in the surrounding counties.”

Mr. Wooldridge went on to state that Rose Hill affects the local economy just like every other small business located here. They employee local residents, deal with residents of Muhlenberg County and shop with local businesses. They buy local fuel, from local part stores, pay local taxes that help keep the county running.

“We are just another cog in the small business world that keeps Muhlenberg County running,” said Mr. Wooldridge.

As for future plans, Mr. Wooldridge stated that Rose Hill intends to keep expanding as much as possible. He stated that the company would like to expand towards the Owensboro area due to their competitive prices and the benefits that they could bring to the Daviess County area as well.

“If anyone has any questions, I encourage you to contact us and let us know,” said Mr. Wooldridge. “Our prices are far less than most and most people are surprised when we tell them what our starting prices are. I'm sure we can help accommodate anyone. We have over 250 monuments on display to choose from as well as the ability to customize any shape, size and picture.”

Rose Hill Monuments office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM, and on Saturday by appointment. You may contact them at 270-754-2246 for further information.
