Central City Ribbon Cutting for Upgraded City Building

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (04/16/15) – On Thursday, April 16, 2015, local officials, citizens and Greater Muhlenberg Chamber of Commerce members showed up for a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of the upgrading of the interior of the city building.

A sizeable crowd was present as Mayor Barry Shaver cut the ribbon ceremonially opening the doors to the new building.

“This City Hall belongs to our citizens,” said Mayor Shaver. “We want them to have what they deserve. This is for our people, our local Central City citizens.”

Among the aspects of the building that was changed and upgraded was new carpet and tile, repainted areas, an extended lobby area, new clerk’s office, upgrading of the offices and bathrooms, and many other aspects.

One very positive aspect that Mayor Shaver mentioned at the ceremony was that the majority of the labor was done by local inmates, and all the items utilized in the upgrading were purchased locally, keeping funds within the Muhlenberg County area.

Among those present at the ceremony were Mayor Barry Shaver, Rep. Brent Yonts, Central City Tourism Director Carmel Rich, C.B. Embry, Police Chief Brent Roberson, Fire Chief Rick King, Gaylan Spurlin and many others.
