 Two Arrested in Powderly Gun Theft Case

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (04/16/15) – Officials with the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office have reported an arrest that took place on Wednesday, April 15, involving a theft of several firearms.

Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Piper reports that on Tuesday, April 14, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of seven firearms taken from a residence on Hillside Road in the Powderly area. Sgt. Shannon Albro immediately put an investigation into effect.

Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Albro discovered two of the stolen firearms in a trash bin at Tucker’s Mobile Home Park, where it had been reported that a suspect in the case had been living.

Two more firearms were also recovered on WhippoorWill Hill in Powderly in an abandoned out building after the suspect was reported to have been seen in the wooded area.

Two arrests were made in the investigation on Wednesday of this week. Officials state that 24-year-old William Campfield from Powderly was arrested on charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking of Firearm. In the same case, 24-year-old Kyle English, also a Powderly resident, was arrested on charges of Receiving Stolen Property (Firearms).

Both suspects were lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center.
