Church Partners with Local Musician to Raise Funds for Honduras Mission Trip

KENTUCKY  (04/28/2015) – A local Hopkins County Church has announced an upcoming event featuring live entertainment and great food to raise funds for a mission trip to Honduras.

On Saturday, May 16, at 5:00 PM, the Providence Rural United Methodist Church in Hanson will be holding a “Hungry for Honduras” mission fundraiser dinner, with entertainment provided by local popular musician Ray Ligon.

KenCo News spoke with Mr. Ligon regarding the event. Mr. Ligon stated that the funds from this dinner will go towards a mission trip to the mountain region around Tegucigalpa, Honduras with a team from Christian Assembly. This will be a one-week mission trip with the sole purpose of helping individuals from that region.

Mr. Ligon passed along statements from Scott Moore, one of the individuals heading this mission trip, stating that there are multiple purposes for this mission. First, and foremost, Mr. Moore stated that they will be allowing God to work in their lives through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of Mission trip.

Mr. Moore went on to state that those on the mission trip will be participating in certain construction projects, daily evangelism, evening church services and assisting in clinic work with a missionary doctor.

The Hungry for Honduras dinner will feature BBQ Pork Plates, including BBQ pork, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, dessert, and tea and water for drinks.

Tickets for this worthy event are $12.00 per person. If you would like to attend this fundraiser, contact Scott Moore at 270-836-5309 for tickets.
