 Mother and Child Injured in Pennyrile Parkway Accident

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky.  (05/12/2015) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident that took place on Monday, May 11, 2015, at approximately 3:00 PM.

Sheriff’s Office officials state that Jessica Watts of Madisonville was traveling southbound on Pennyrile Parkway near the 53 mile marker in a 2002 GMC SUV, with her 10-month old child. Watts told Deputies on the scene that her vehicle hit standing water on the roadway and began to hydroplane. She said that she lost control of her vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment causing the SUV to turn end over end, coming to a final stop on its’ top.

Both Watts and her child were taken to the Baptist Health Emergency Room for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Hanson Fire Department.
