MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (05/14/15) – Over $5.4 million in blacktopping and parkway work in Muhlenberg and Hopkins counties was awarded in early May by the state Transportation Cabinet, State Rep. Brent Yonts reported today.

The Cabinet awarded all projects to Road Builders LLC on May 4, according to its website.

“All of the projects are necessary, and I am glad to see that they have been awarded,” said Yonts, D-Greenville.

The largest award, in the amount of $4.58 million, is for asphalt rehab on the Western Kentucky Parkway, said Yonts. That work will involve the milling and thinning of asphalt overlay on the parkway from mile point 54.285 to mile point 59.920 in Muhlenberg County.

Also awarded was $310,590 for blacktopping of 0.79 miles of Everly Brothers Blvd in Muhlenberg County beginning at KY 189 and extending east.

A total of $528,454.50 was awarded by the Cabinet for blacktopping in Hopkins County. That project involves resurfacing of Nebo Road (US 41A) from 50 feet north of Lake Pee Wee Road north to 0.144 miles south of Rainwater Lane for a distance of 2.42 miles.
