One Dead as a Result of Male Fleeing Police 

WESTERN KY. (05/31/15) – On May 27, 2015, KenCo News reported on an incident regarding an individual fleeing police officers resulting in a traffic accident.

During the incident, Sgt. Jeffrey Ayres with the Kentucky State Police attempted to pull over a 2007 Buick Lacrosse driven by 26-year-old Quintrell Quarles of Hopkinsville on Pembroke Road in Christian County. Quarles fled in the vehicle.

During the chase, Quarles lost control of his vehicle as he rounded a curve and entered the opposite lane, striking a 1998 Honda CRV driven by 60-year-old Nancy Simmons. Simmons’ vehicle overturned onto the passenger side.

Simmons had four passengers in her vehicle, one of which was 89-year-old Leatrice Simmons of Christian County.

Kentucky State Police officials released information today stating that on Saturday, May 30, 2015, Mrs. Simmons passed away as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

As a result of Simmons’ death, Quarles charges have been upgraded to Murder and Assault 1st Degree.

Quarles is currently lodged in the Christian County Detention Center on a one million dollar bond.
