TRAFFIC ALERT – Lane Restriction on WK Parkway in Muhlenberg

KENTUCKY (06/02/15) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has issued a warning for local drivers traveling on the WK Parkway in the Muhlenberg County area, effective immediately.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to place a lane and load width restriction along a section of the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway in Muhlenberg County starting today.

This work zone for milling, paving, and bridge overlay work along the WK Pkwy starts about 2 miles east of the KY 181 Interchange at mile point 54.285 and extends eastward to mile point 59.920, which is about 2 miles east of the US 431 Central City Interchange. The almost 6 mile long project includes a 12 ft. maximum load width for a bridge overlay on the US 62 Overpass at the WK Pkwy 56 mile marker.

Motorists should slow down and be alert for equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

This work zone includes a 55 mile per hour speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines. Appropriate caution is required.

Road Builders, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $4.5 million highway improvement project. The anticipated completion date is September 1, 2015.
