 Owner of Computer Magic in Central City Arrested for Manufacturing Meth


KENTUCKY (06/13/15) – The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office has made yet another strike against drug presence in Muhlenberg County by arresting a local business owner and a female on drug-related charges.

Deputy Alex Piper has reported that on Friday, June 12, 2015, Deputy Piper and Deputy Brock Mefford responded to 4791 State Route 70 West for a report of a domestic disturbance. During the course of the investigation Deputy Mefford observed marijuana and drug paraphernalia on a table inside the home. After a search of the home, deputies found other drug paraphernalia, marijuana, components used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine, and an exhausted meth lab outside of the residence.

Deputies then performed a search in a residence also owned by the couple, on Patty Ln in Bremen, where components used in manufacturing meth were discovered along with marijuana plants.

Deputy Mefford arrested and charged 39 year old Daniel Jarrod Merlin, owner of Computer Magic in Central City, with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st offense, Controlled Substance Endangerment to a Child 4th Degree, Drug Paraphernalia, Cultivating Marijuana 2nd Offense, and Possession of Marijuana and Assault 4th Degree.

Thirty year old Lazette Cyphers, also from Central City, was arrested and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st offense, Controlled Substance Endangerment to a Child 4th Degree, Drug Paraphernalia, Cultivating Marijuana 1st Offense, and Possession of Marijuana.

The Sheriff's Department was assisted on the scene by Pennyroyal Narcotics Task Force, Desi West, Central City Police Department and the Kentucky State Police.
