Standoff with Police Results in Attempted Suicide 

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (07/02/15) – On July 1, 2015, Police officials responded to a residence on Comer Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance in progress at 7:22 PM, in Madisonville.

Madisonville Police Officials state that once officers arrived on the scene, they found that an act of domestic assault had taken place and the victim was safely removed from the home.

As the situation progressed, the male subject, 43-year-old Stanley Menser of Madisonville, was confirmed as being armed and had barricaded himself inside the residence. Madisonville Police Negotiators and Emergency Response was notified and arrived quickly on the scene.

After several hours of no contact with Menser, officers made their way into the residence. Once inside, officers found an unresponsive white male with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Menser was taken to Baptist Health and later transported to Deaconess Hospital where he is currently listed as being in critical condition.
