Fatal Accident and Suspected Medical-Related Death Under Investigation

TODD COUNTY, Ky. (07/08/15) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, fatality collision that occurred on Snardon Mill Road on Tuesday, July 7, at approximately 8:18 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Amber J. Summers, 22, Russellville, KY, was operating a vehicle westbound on Snardon Mill Road when she lost control as she was negotiating a right hand turn. The vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway, traveled sideways across a grass field, and struck rip-rap along the side of Elk Fork. The vehicle came to rest on its top, submerged in water off the roadway.

It appears that the operator of another vehicle, Randy L. Baskerville, 49, Russellville, KY, stopped to render aid. In doing so, it appears that Mr. Baskerville experienced some type of unknown, medical emergency. Upon arrival of first responders, both subjects were located deceased along the rip-rap at the edge of Elk Fork.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Todd County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies for both subjects are currently pending.

Trooper Billy Over is continuing the investigation. Sergeant Tim Sales, Trooper Curtis Crick, the Todd County Sheriff’s Department, Todd County Fire & Rescue, the Area 2 Dive Team, and the Todd County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
