 Possible Drowning Incident at High Wall on Peabody

WESTERN Ky. (07/22/15) – At around 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 21, various local first responders were dispatched to the scene of a possible drowning incident that took place at the High Wall.

The High Wall is a large cliff overlooking a lake on Peabody property near Graham. For years it has been a popular swimming and camping area for local citizens. On Tuesday evening five local youth were present at the location for swimming.

KenCo News was on the scene as the investigation took place. Four of the youth told officials that they were swimming with another 17-18 year old male. They stated that the male swam across the lake and attempted to swim back. Approximately halfway across, the male tired to the point of not being able to swim further. Other youths attempted to help pull him to the shore, but they stated that they began to get pulled under themselves. They stated that the male went under and did not resurface.

The dive team was on the scene as reporters spoke to officials, searching the lake for male.

As of 1:00 AM there was still no individual found in the waters, and the search continues.

At this time, the identity of the male has not been officially released.

The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office, Graham Fire Department, Department of Fish and Wildlife, EMS and various other officials were on the scene.
