New Boat Dock at Sherwood Point of Lake Malone to be Discussed with Public

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (07/24/15) – The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will host a public meeting at Muhlenberg County South Elementary School Aug. 26 to discuss an application to build a 24-slip marina at Lake Malone. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. (Central time).

Hopkinsville-based Urban Land Development is seeking to build a commercial boat bock at the Sherwood Point section of the 788-acre lake in western Kentucky.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife employees will present specifics of the proposal at the meeting. Comments received at the meeting will be discussed at the Nov. 6 Fisheries Committee meeting of the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission in Frankfort.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife owns a 50-foot buffer around the lake. The property deed for the site of the proposed marina assures the landowner's right to operate a commercial boat dock. The department can determine the size of the marina based on its location, position and potential to obstruct fishing on the lake.

Muhlenberg County South Elementary School is located at 2005 U.S. 431 in Beechmont, approximately 8 miles south of Central City.
