Fatal Traffic Accident on Pennyrile Parkway

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (8/18/2014) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a traffic accident that took place on August 17, as a result of slick highways from the harsh rainfall.

According to Sheriff’s Office Deputy Rebecca Bleidt, at approximately 9:30 AM on Sunday, Dispatch received a report of an accident at the 47 Mile Marker on the Pennyrile Parkway, northbound lane.

According to the investigations, the vehicle driven by 54-year-old Teresa Tyson of Providence was traveling northbound when the vehicle apparently hydroplaned causing loss of control. The vehicle then struck the guardrail, left the roadway and hit a tree.

The passenger, 90-year-old Lonnie Wilbur Todd of Madisonville, was transported to Baptist Health and then subsequently transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident.

Ms. Tyson was not injured.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hanson Fire Department and Medical Center Ambulance Service.
