HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (9/10/2014) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has reported an arrest in regards to a potentially mentally ill Hopkins County resident.

According to report filed by Detective Otis Chamberlain, On Monday, Sept. 10, 2014, at approximately 1:04 PM, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a complain of a mentally ill female attempting to give away her children on Ray Lane in Hanson. Officers found the suspect, 24-year-old Shaina Stanley of Earlington, at 65 Ray Lane.

After speaking with Stanley, Deputies found that she was incoherent and incapable of answering simple questions.

A canvas of the area resulted in finding an attempted burglary of two homes located at 55 and 65 Ray Lane. The front and rear door of 55 Ray Lane were damaged as a result of repeated kicking by Stanley in attempts to force entry.

Stanley performed these crimes in the presence of her infant male child.

The Cabinet of Protection and Services assisted with the son and Stanley was transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center on charges of Public Intoxication, Attempted Burglary 2nd degree (2 counts) and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.
