Two Separate Accidents in Same Area within 15 Minutes near Central City

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (9/11/2014) – The Kentucky State Police has reported two accidents that occurred on Thursday, September 11, between 8:01 AM and 8:14 AM, both of which resulted in injuries.

According to KSP Troopers, a single-vehicle accident occurred on US 62, three miles east of Central City, in which 30-year-old Megan Cisco of Central City was traveling westbound in a 2009 Toyota Camry when she lost control of the vehicle due to wet roadways on a curve. Mrs. Cisco’s vehicle ran off the left-hand side of the road and struck an embankment, overturning, and striking a tree. Mrs. Cisco was transported to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Cisco was wearing a seatbelt.

Approximately 13 minutes later, 29-year-old Lakrisha Shemwell, also of Central City, was traveling westbound on 62 when she lost control on a curve in the same area, also due to wet roadways. Shemwell attempted to regain control and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn in the westbound lane. Shemwell was transported to the hospital as well, and was wearing a seatbelt.

These accidents were investigated by Trooper Craig Engler who was assisted by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Del Miller, the Central City Fire Department, and Muhlenberg County EMS.
