Female Arrested for Threatening to Steal Car and Theft Hopkins County

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (9/12/2014) – On Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, the Madisonville Police Department responded to a report of an attempted vehicle theft that took place in the parking lot of the KCTCS – Madisonville Campus.

Following a short investigation, officers found that 23-year-old Shaina Stanley of 307 Wilson Street in Earlington had approached a vehicle and opened the driver’s door. Stanley then asked the driver, Lisa Howerton of Hanson, if she would “help her out.” Howerton said no and asked Stanley to please leave.

At this point, Stanley informed Howerton that she was going to take her vehicle. Howerton quickly removed her keys and ran toward a nearby building. Stanley then entered the vehicle and began rummaging through the vehicle compartments. Another vehicle pulled up and the driver told Stanley to get out of Howerton’s vehicle. Stanley left the area immediately.

Officials located Stanley in Hanson and found her to be in possession of stolen items from the vehicle. Stanley was arrested by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s office for non-related offenses.

Warrants were then obtained on Stanley from the Hopkins County Attorney’s Office and served on her at the Hopkins County Jail on Thursday of this week.
