Hopkinsville Man Arrested after Striking Wife Multiple Times with Hatchet

WESTERN Ky. (9/23/2014) – A Hopkinsville Man was arrested on Monday, Sept. 23, 2014, after Hopkinsville Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene of a reported domestic dispute.

Officer Paul Ray, with the Hopkinsville Police Department, told KenCo News that when officers arrived on the scene at 902 Springmont in Hopkinsville, it was determined that the wife of 51-year-old Timothy Preston Hale had been struck multiple times with a hatchet.

A witness, Hale’s adult son, also stated that the wife had been struck multiple times in the face by Hale’s fist.

When the wife attempted to flee from Hale, witnesses said that he unholstered a .45 caliber pistol and stated that, “I’m going to end it. I’m going to put her down.”

Hale reportedly chased his wife, finally catching up with her. The son was able to disarm Hale and threw the pistol into the back yard.

Hale was arrested on the scene and charged with Attempted Murder.

The wife was flown to Skyline Med Center in Critical Condition.
