Home Destroyed in Beechmont Structure Fire

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (10/7/2014) – Various emergency personnel responded to a report of a structure fully engulfed in flames in the Beechmont area on Tuesday, October 7, at approximately 4:30.

The location of the fire was the last house on the end of Valley Lane, on the east side of the area that is often referred to by local citizens as Dead Man’s Curve, just off of 431 South.

KenCo News was on the scene as firefighters attempted to extinguish the flames, with little luck due to the severity of the fire, along with the strong gusts of wind blowing through the area.

Reporters spoke with various officials, gathering information regarding the fire. It was stated that the owners of the home (identity not released at this time) were in the process of moving out of the residence. It was also said that the water and the electricity to the home had been shut off earlier in the day.

Next to the residence was a recreational vehicle that was also destroyed by the fire, due to the proximity of the vehicle near the residence.

Behind the residence was a propane tank that was actively leaking.

Reporters exited the scene at 6:30, as firefighters continued to battle the fire.

As of this time, the cause of the fire has yet to be released. KenCo News will keep you updated as new details are released.

The Beechmont Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Dunmor Fire Department, Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Vick, and EMS officials.
