Passenger Thrown from Vehicle Hit by Train

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (10/14/2014) – On October 13, 2014 at approximately 8:13 PM, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office received numerous reports that a vehicle had been struck by a train on West Moss Avenue at the railroad crossing.

Upon Deputy Ryan Bailey’s arrival, it was found that a 2003 Buick Rendezvous operated by Adam Bowles, of Earlington, attempted to speed through the railroad crossing, in an effort to beat the train. Bowles vehicle was struck on the passenger side, causing one passenger, Anna Hill, of Earlington, to be ejected.

Another passenger in the vehicle, Woodford Walker was also injured. All three subjects were transported by Medical Center Ambulance Service to Baptist Health Emergency Room for treatment of their injuries.

Hill and Walker were transferred to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, due to life-threatening injuries. At the time of release, Ms. Hill was listed in critical condition. Mr. Bowles was treated and released.

The investigation into the collision is still ongoing by Deputy Bailey and CSX Railroad Investigators.

Deputy Bailey was assisted on scene by the Kentucky State Police, Medical Center Ambulance Service, and Earlington Fire Department.
