Two Men Flee from Officers Near Bancroft Road in Greenville 

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/05/2014) – The Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of one man and one that is still on the loose, being actively sought by local law enforcement.

In a News release, Sheriff’s Office officials stated that Muhlenberg County Sheriff Detective Troy Gibson (assigned to Pennyrile Narcotic Task Force) conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Gregory J. Barnett of 704 E Walnut St. Dawson Springs.

On Friday Dec 5th, Muhlenberg County Sheriff Detective, Wade Griggs was doing surveillance on 62 East, Greenville. Gibson and Griggs believed that two men were in the area attempting to sale anhydrous ammonia. Anhydrous Ammonia is a chemical that is normally used by farmers to fertilize corn but it is also one of the ingredients used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Griggs attempted to perform a traffic stop but the driver of the vehicle fled, leading Griggs on a short pursuit. The vehicle came to a stop after striking an embankment; both men then fled on foot. Griggs was able to apprehend Barnett; he was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, 1st offense; possession of anhydrous ammonia in unapproved container; fleeing and evading police, 2nd degree.

Other charges have been filed and police are looking for Nathan Zachary Campbell (27) of Hopkinsville.

Anyone with information regarding Campbell’s whereabouts is asked to contact Muhlenberg County Central Dispatch at 270-338-2000.

Kentucky State Police, KSP K-9 Unit, Greenville Police Department, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement and Central City Police Department assisted in the investigation.
