CORRECTION - Vehicle Runs into building in Greenville

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/05/2014) – At around 1:15 today, Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, Greenville Police Chief Darren Harvey reported an accident that took place on Court Row in Greenville.

Once on the scene, KenCo Reporters found a white Mercury Sable sitting with the front embedded in the wall of the storage building next to Bibbs Funeral Home building, across from the Muhlenberg County Jail. The storage building was the property of twin co-owners Dorothy Bibbs-Kendrick and Berna Bibbs-Snipes.

Chief Harvey stated that a female had been driving the car out of the parking lot of the jail, attempting to turn onto court row. The woman had informed Chief Harvey that she went to press the brakes as she approached the roadway and accidentally hit the gas pedal instead. The car rushed across the street, hitting the rear of a parked Plymouth Van, and then crashing into the wall of the storage building.

Damage to the building was substantial. Cracks from the impact ran along the west side of the building and throughout the front of the building, all the way to the roof.

The driver did not appear to have any severe injuries, but chose to go to the Muhlenberg County Hospital to be safe.

The Greenville Police Department worked the case.

The vehicle was removed from the scene by Harvey Family Towing.
