MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/12/2014) – KenCo News has had multiple informational requests regarding an accident where Greenville Police Department officer Duane Harvey’s son was injured on Dec. 8, 2014. KenCo News spoke with Greenville Police Chief Darren Harvey, as well as receiving information from the Kentucky State Police on the matter.

Chief Harvey told reporters that his nephew, Logan County Deputy Brandon Harvey, was on a call on behalf of the Sheriff’s Department when he came upon a stopped Fed Ex truck on US 431 North near the intersection of Peach Blossom Road. Deputy Harvey attempted to avoid colliding with the Fed Ex vehicle by hitting his brakes and steering into the southbound lane.

At the same time, 72-year-old Darrell Boatwright of Dunmor was traveling southbound. Deputy Harvey’s and Boatwright’s vehicle struck head-on.

Mr. Boatwright was taken via helicopter to the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Deputy Harvey was transported by Logan County EMS to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Chief Harvey told reporters that his nephew is now out of the hospital, but has multiple broken bones on both hands and is awaiting test results for damage to one of his legs.
