Two-Vehicle Accident with Injuries near Copper Creek on Bypass 

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/14/2014) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has released information regarding an accident that took place on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, on the Bypass in the Powderly area.

According to KSP officials, at approximately 9:28 AM Van Wilson, 71, of Beechmont, was operating a 2010 Toyota Tacoma southbound on the KY 189 bypass. Wilson was stopped at the intersection of Copper Creek Drive.

At the same time, Robert Ferguson, 80, of South Carrollton, was operating a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on the KY 189 bypass. When the light turned green, Wilson began to proceed through the intersection. The front of Ferguson's Chevrolet struck the rear of Wilson's Toyota. Both vehicles came to final rest upright in the roadway.

Both Mr. Wilson and Mr. Fergusson were transported via ambulance to the Muhlenberg Community Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

There were no passengers involved.

Trooper First Class Jerry Knight investigated the collision. The Greenville Fire Department, Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office, and Muhlenberg County EMS assisted at the scene.
