Man Leaves Scene of Vehicle Accident on HWY 1380

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/15/2014) – Around 5:30 on Monday evening, Dec. 15, Kentucky State Police and Greenville Fire Department officials responded to a report of a possible accident with injuries located on 1369, just outside of Greenville.

Kentucky State Police officials and Fire Department personnel on the scene informed reporters that a local man (name unreleased at this time) was traveling southbound in a white Nissan Rogue. The man reportedly told someone that he left the side of the road to avoid a deer.

An investigation revealed that the vehicle exited the right side of the driveway into the yard of a home located at 1369 St. Rt. 1380. The vehicle crashed through several items in the yard, including a mailbox and several yard decorations, and then re-entered the highway at the opposite end of the yard. The vehicle traveled another significant distance before coming to a final stop in a driveway on the left side of the highway. From start to finish, the wreck took place over a distance of an estimated 200 feet. Damage to the vehicle was extreme.

When officials arrived on the scene, it was reported that the individual had been seen walking southbound on the roadway towards Greenville, having left the scene of the accident before officials arrived. The individual was reported to live in a residence just down the road from the accident. Officials visited the residence and found that he was not there.

As of this time (6:30 PM, 12/15/14) the individual has not been located.

This incident is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police, assisted by the Greenville Fire Department. Gunn Towing removed the vehicle from the scene of the accident.
