Tractor Trailer Truck Rollover Results in 2-Vehicle Collision at Central City Exit

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/19/2014) – On Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at around 1:00 PM, an accident occurred at the Central City off-ramp from the Western Kentucky Parkway, involving two tractor trailer trucks and one car.

According to officials at the scene, a witness stated that they saw a semi-truck, hauling coal, exiting the WK Parkway. At the curve of the exit ramp, the witness stated that two wheels from the truck came off the ground, resulting in the truck turning over on the side of the road, spilling a load of coal. Officers stated that it was likely that the truck was going slightly faster than necessary, causing the rollover. The driver told officers that he wasn't sure what happened.

Directly after the accident occurred, a female driver and passenger (names not released at this time) spotted the accident as they passed the exit on WK Parkway in the eastbound lane. The driver pulled over into the emergency lane and backed her car up, attempting to see what happened in the accident. The car veered out into the eastbound lane from the emergency lane as it backed up, and ran under the front of another tractor trailer truck that was traveling eastbound on the parkway.

Officials stated that there did not appear to be any serious injuries as a result of the accident.

The accident was worked by the Central City Police Department and the Central City Fire Department, assisted on-scene by EMS.
