MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (12/23/2014) –On Tuesday, Dec. 23, at approximately 5:45 PM, Central Dispatch informed first responders of a reported accident with possible injuries at the intersection of Country Lane Drive and Weir Road in Greenville.

Once on the scene, officials found that a Pontiac Grand Am was traveling southbound on Weir Road, coming to a stop to turn onto Country Lane Drive. At the same time, a red Chevy Blazer was traveling south also, coming up onto the hill on Weir Road behind the Grand Am. The Blazer collided with the rear of the Grand Am.

KenCo News spoke with the driver of the Blazer on the scene. The driver, a female, stated that she was driving when she sneezed. When she looked up from the sneeze, she noticed the stopped Grand Am and slammed on her brakes. Due to the wet roadway from showers throughout the day, the Blazer slid into the rear of the car.

Two individuals, the driver and a passenger, were taken from the Grand Am and transported to the Muhlenberg County Hospital by EMS. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

The female driver of the Blazer reported that she was not injured and refused transfer by EMS. There were no passengers in the Blazer.

The incident was worked by Greenville Police Officer Tommy Fauntleroy, a Graham Firefighter, the Greenville Fire Department and EMS. The Grand Am was removed from the scene by Vincent’s Towing. Visible damage to the Blazer was minimal.
