Vehicle Rides Bridge Rail in Central City

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY (12/27/2014) - At approximately 8:00 PM, on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, a single-vehicle accident occurred on West Whitmer Street in Central City.

According to Officers on the scene, a 39-year-old male was traveling westbound on West Whitmer in a dark blue Chevy S10 Pickup Truck. The driver approached the bridge a short distance from the Central City Bypass when the front passenger side tire exited the roadway. According to officials, it appeared that the vehicle mounted the rail on the right hand side and rode it to the end of the bridge, coming to a final stop on the west end of the bridge.

One wheel and part of the axle was completely torn from the vehicle.

Officials stated that the driver very likely received some injuries, and was transported to the Muhlenberg County Hospital for treatment.

Officers stated that the driver will be charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs.

The accident was worked by the Central City Police Department, the Central City Fire Department and EMS.

Quality Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
