Hopkinsville Police Department Preps for New Year’s Eve DUI Checkpoints

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (12/29/2014) - The Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD) will be conducting DUI checkpoints beginning New Year’s Eve and continuing into the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

HPD Official Paul Ray states that reducing alcohol-related injury or fatal collisions and providing safety to the community is a priority of the police department.

“By having these DUI checkpoints, it’s the departments’ mission to reduce the number of impaired drivers traveling our streets, educate the public, and to achieve the ultimate goal of making Hopkinsville a safer place to live and drive,” said Officer Ray.

The Holiday season can be one of the deadliest and most dangerous times on America’s roadways due to drunk driving. The safest ride home is with a sober driver. Please plan ahead and designate a sober driver if you plan on consuming alcohol.
