One Student Injured in School Bus Accident

CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (03/10/15) – On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at approximately 6:30 AM, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a report of a school bus accident with possible injuries on KY 109 near the Intersection of KY 1348 in Christian County.

According to KSP officials, the preliminary investigation revealed that Christa Buckner, 47, of Hopkinsville, was operating a 2007 Freightliner school bus northbound on KY 109 when the vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway. It appears that Ms. Buckner over-corrected. The bus crossed the southbound lane and exited the roadway. The bus struck a tree before coming to rest off the roadway.

There were five students on the bus. An 18-year-old, female student, who was complaining of leg pain, was transported via ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Trooper First Class Jim McArthur investigated the collision. The Christian County Sheriff’s Department and Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS assisted at the scene.
